In November, Ottawa-Gatineau was home to the Canadian Worker Co-op Federation’s annual conference. The La Siembra Co-operative team was there to celebrate our roots and discuss how worker co-operatives like ours can transform workplaces and the economy.
And celebrate we did! In addition to hosting our co-op friends for a fun Mix and Mingle event, we were honoured to receive one of two awards handed out that night, alongside long-time co-op champion Alain Bridault.
La Siembra Co-operative received the Canadian Worker Co-operative Federation’s Best Practices award for mutual co-operation.
The Worker Co-op Best Practices Award goes to a worker co-operative which has demonstrated best practices in governance and/or operations, including in upholding the values and principles of the co-operative movement within their co-operative, and has shared, or is willing to share their experience and learnings with other worker co-operatives in Canada.
